There are two weddings that live in my heart as the most magical days I’ve ever experienced. The first is my own—and the second is the wedding of two of my closest friends, John and Steph.
I met them both at the summer camp where I spent so many of my growing-up years, first as a camper, then as a staff member. We became fast friends, the kind that stick even when life starts pulling you in different directions. Even now, through jobs, school, and all the things that come with growing older, we’ve stayed connected.
Steph and I have always shared a love for flowers and gardening. We both grew up surrounded by family who loved the warmer seasons with flowers, and who taught us how to care for them. And now, we’ve each made little gardens of our own. So when she asked me to do her wedding flowers, it meant more to me to have that trust for their big day.
She had a few ideas—peonies, ranunculus, and this soft, magical greenery that would trail gently from the bouquet—but more than anything, she trusted me. She gave me the space to create something that felt like her.
I remember the moment I showed her everything—how my heart was pounding just a little, how excited I was for her to see it. And when she smiled, I knew she felt the joy of it all too.
There’s something incredibly special about designing flowers for a friend—especially a friend who knows and loves them as much as you do. It felt like one of those full-circle moments: a celebration, a creation, and a little bit of soul work all wrapped into one. I’m so thankful I got to be part of it.
